recently compared the effectiveness of chiropractic care plus hot pack
applications versus hot pack applications only in the treatment of low
back pain and dysfunction due to OA (osteoarthritis). The study
evaluated 250 patients with low back pain secondary to osteoarthritis.
Patients were randomly assigned to one of the two groups. According to
the study conclusion, "Chiropractic
care combined with heat is more effective than heat alone for treating
OA-based lower back pain. Pain reduction occurs more rapidly and to a
greater degree, and ROM (range of motion) increases more rapidly and to
a greater degree."
